Meet Ellyn Wyman-Grothem

Ellyn Wyman-Grothem, Educator

Ellyn Wyman-Grothem (she/her) is a birthworker and educator living in St. Paul, Minnesota-- occupied Očhéthi Šakówiŋ land. She took a long path to birthwork, with detours in journalism, poetry, and education. Her experiences as a fat, white, queer, neurodivergent, and disabled person inform both her birthwork and her teaching.

Ellyn has a Bachelor's degree in Communication and English and a Master's in Special Education. She also trained for birthwork through a large national organization, and subsequently retrained herself through various readings, mentorships, and smaller workshops and trainings. She and her business partner, Shea, run Nisse Body and Birth, and she is a coordinator for Queer Birth Project.

Ellyn lives with her wife in an old house with a large garden, and spends time reading, writing, playing TTRPGs, and fostering guinea pigs.
